Job summary

Actalent in Dallas, TX is seeking an Applications Engineer to evaluate customer specs, develop preliminary equipment designs, and perform fluid-mechanics calculations. You will size pumps, valves, piping components, and VFDs, and prepare quotations while collaborating with vendors and internal teams.

The role is onsite in Dallas, with a competitive pay range of $70,000 to $95,000 per year, plus medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with matching, paid holidays and PTO, and quarterly bonuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering degrees will also be considered.
• Experience working with pumps, piping systems, valves, controls, and VFDs.
• Understanding of fluid mechanics and engineering calculations.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer specifications, project scopes, and technical requirements.
• Develop preliminary equipment designs and engineering solutions.
• Perform engineering calculations related to fluid mechanics, flow, pressure, and system performance.
• Size and select pumps, valves, piping components, controls, and VFDs.
• Prepare project quotations, cost estimates, and pricing proposals.
• Work closely with vendors on component selection, pricing, and technical application.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for customers during the early stages of projects.
• Support the sales team by providing technical expertise during customer meetings and proposal development.
• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and project management teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Create and maintain project documentation, technical reports, and engineering records.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges while ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel and other engineering tools to analyze data, create calculations, and improve processes.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Dallas, TX.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $95000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
