University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking an Application Developer to provide workflow analysis, optimization, application build, testing and implementationofEpicSystemsoftwarerelatedtotheBeacon(Oncology)application.This position includes working with Project Management groups, key stakeholders, vendors, contactors, and end users regularly.

Position Responsibilities:

Analysis/Design

  • Collaboratewithsubjectmatterexpertstoanalyzeworkflowsanddevelopapplication design.
  • Createfunctional/technicalspecificationsforsystembuildandcomplexintegrated systems.
  • Demonstratefeaturestotheusercommunityandassessapplicability,impact,and value.

Implementation

  • Configureandcustomize applications.
  • Performunitandintegratedtestingofassignedapplication workflows.
  • UnderstandandadheretoChangeManagementpoliciesand procedures.
  • UnderstandandadheretoITSecuritypoliciesand procedures.

Supportand Maintenance

  • CompletionofrelatedEpicCertifications/accreditationsoreligibletoobtainandmaintainrelevant Epic certifications/accreditations specific to your role.
  • Troubleshoot/debugandidentifymalfunctioningsystems.Implement fixes.
  • Resolvecomplexsystemproblemsthroughparticipationin24x7on-call rotations.
  • Documentsystemdesignand build.
  • Traveltocustomersitesasneededtosupportapplicationimplementation,upgrade,optimization and/or training/conferences.

Experience Requirements

  • Experienceinthedevelopmentand/orsupportofapplicationsusedbynon-technicalcustomersto support and enhance workflow processes, preferably healthcare, typically 3-5 years of experience for an Application Developer role.
  • Experiencecontributingtoanintegratedinformationsystemimplementationcyclethoughareas such as design, workflow analysis, build, training, implementation, testing, and support.
  • Experienceworkingwithapplicationownersand/orvendorstodefinesystemrequirements, integration requirements and understand business needs.
  • Demonstratedexperienceworkingwithend-userstodefinesystemrequirements,understand business needsandconvert business requirements into functional/technicalspecifications for complex integrated systems build.
  • Demonstratedknowledgeofandexperiencewithbasicproject management
  • Abilitytocommunicateeffectivelybothverballyandinwritingwithtechnicalandnon-technical staff.
  • Experience with any of the following workflows: oncology research and infusion workflows or similar healthcare experience.

  • Epiccertification/accreditationrelatedbutnotlimitedtothefollowing:Beacon,EpicCareInpatient, EpicCare Ambulatory, Orders
  • Demonstratedabilityusingtoolsforcustomizingvendorapplication software.
  • Experiencecollaboratingwithtechnicalandnon-technicalstaffonsystemimplementation projects.
  • Strongproblem-solvingskillsandexperienceadheringtoregulatoryrequirementswith respect to system configuration.
  • Provenabilitytowriteapplicationtest scripts.
