Job summary

Kyndryl designs, builds and modernizes mission-critical systems for Fortune 100 clients. In this strategic role you will bring your mainframe expertise to define modernization roadmaps, balance cost and risk, and identify opportunities to move applications to the cloud.

You'll design cutting-edge software frameworks, provide technical leadership to development teams, ensure enterprise-wide design standards, and document architectures to guide future work.

Your role Bring your specialist knowledge and experience to a company managing 50% of the world’s MIPS and play a critical role in our modernization mission. In this strategic role, you’ll use your knowledge of legacy systems and cloud architecture to identify opportunities to modernize mainframe applications.

What you will do

Plan Strategy

Shape the future: Define, assess, and prioritize modernization roadmaps taking into account cost and risk.

Design Frameworks

Invent innovative solutions: You'll be responsible for designing cutting-edge software frameworks, systems, and products that will set the standard for the industry. You'll use your extensive technical knowledge to conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes, while also identifying and resolving any framework design weaknesses.

Guide Teams

• Share your knowledge: Use your technical expertise to provide technical leadership to the application development team, perform design and code reviews, and ensure that uniform enterprise-wide application design standards are maintained.
• Achieve business goals: Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure that the architecture is aligned with business requirements, making sure that the project meets its goals.

Document Architecture

• Keep vital records: Create and maintain documentation surrounding the software architecture, application design processes, component integration, testing guidelines, and other key elements.

Who You Are Required skills and experience

• Architectural experience of large customer change and transformation projects
• In depth knowledge and experience of hardware and software including connectivity between platforms

Preferred skills and experience

• The Open Group - Master Certified Architect (or equivalent)
• Prior hands-on experience working in a mainframe environment
• Experience in the following types of mainframe projects – Modernize On, Integrate With and Move Off
• Strong understanding of z/OS and IBM Software Products as well as 3rd party mainframe software
