Job summary

Apexon is hiring an Application Architect in Austin, TX to own the end-to-end technical architecture for a state web application. You will drive secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions, lead API strategy, and guide teams through Agile delivery.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in software development, strong OO, Java/Spring, AWS, and API gateway experience, including Apigee, with hands-on design through production environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong knowledge of web application design and development.
• Experience architecting microservices, API design, versioning, publishing, and service integration.
• Strong understanding of Object Oriented principles.
• Expertise in Java coding standards, design patterns, and development best practices.
• Proficiency in Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, REST and SOAP services, and SOA architectures.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Hands on experience with API gateways such as Apigee.
• Strong knowledge of API security and implementation of robust API security controls.
• Strong knowledge of AWS Lambda and serverless compute services.
• Experience with AWS services including SES, SNS, S3, CloudWatch, CloudFront.
• Strong leadership and Agile delivery experience.
• GitHub workflows and repository management.
• Experience using Generative AI tools to improve productivity.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical architecture for web applications.
• Define and govern solution architecture including microservices and distributed systems.
• Lead API strategy: design, versioning, publishing, integration, lifecycle management.
• Implement API gateway controls using Apigee with robust security.
• Establish Java/Spring standards based on OO principles and best practices.
• Guide development with Hibernate/JPA ORM and REST/SOAP/SOA architectures.
• Design data solutions across relational and non-relational databases.
• Architect AWS implementations using Lambda, S3, CloudFront, CloudWatch, SES, SNS.
• Translate business requirements into technical decisions.
• Estimate effort for changes and enhancements in complex systems.
• Provide architecture solutions for complex business needs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align scope and direction.
• Coach teams through Agile delivery.
