Qualifications

• 7+ years in technology architecture and solution design, incl. 3+ years hands-on software engineering.
• Ability to operate at SVP/executive level influencing standards across large organizations.
• Strong communication for technical and executive audiences.
• Background in platform architecture and hybrid on-prem/cloud deployments.
• Proficiency with containers, Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, mentoring capabilities.

Our client is seeking a Sr Financial Application Architect in Dallas, TX or Charlotte, NC. This role provides enterprise-level architectural leadership for ATM platforms within a global financial institution. The Sr Financial Application Architect will define the long-term ATM channel strategy, target-state architecture, and multi-year roadmap, aligned to business growth, cost optimization, risk management, and customer experience goals.

This person will guide the modernization of the ATM ecosystem, balancing legacy platform stability with innovation, while ensuring resilience, security, and regulatory compliance. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior technology and business leaders, the Sr Financial Application Architect will drive standardization, vendor strategy, and investment decisions that improve availability, scalability, and operational efficiency across the ATM fleet.

Required Skills:

• 7+ years of experience in technology architecture and solution design, including 3+ years of hands‑on software engineering
• Proven ability to operate at the SVP/executive level, influencing technology strategy and standards across large organizations
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences
• Strong background in platform architecture, solution design, and hybrid (on-prem and cloud) deployments
• Proficiency with containers, Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code
• Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and mentoring capabilities

Desired Skills

• Experience in regulated industries, such as financial services
• Relevant cloud, security, or data certifications
• Prior ATM and/or payments experience, including:
• ATM software platforms (e.g., NCR, Diebold Nixdorf, or equivalent)
• Transaction processing, switching, and ISO 8583 messaging
• High-availability, real-time, distributed systems
• Prior experience in Tier 1 financial services organizations
• Knowledge of cloud integration in regulated environments
• Architecture or cloud certifications (TOGAF, AWS/Azure — preferred but not required)
