Job description

Job Overview:

The Application Analyst III is primarily responsible for supporting the design and build of the designated application. They are responsible for the overall build of the workflows, system configurations, change documentation, and support of operations for the application. The Application Analyst III is self-directed, works with minimal supervision, and serves as a knowledge resource for Application Analysts I & II. They are responsible for the installation, upgrades, and configuration of the application, as well as assisting in the coordination of customer support activities. The Analyst creates and executes test scripts, documents all test outcomes, and applies advanced troubleshooting skills to implementation, upgrade, and maintenance initiatives. They address customer or build issues, recommend mitigation plans, and escalate more complex issues above their knowledge base. Additionally, they provide on-call support for the application through the go-live and ongoing maintenance period.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associate's degree
  • 5+ years prior Epic Ambulatory build experience
  • Demonstrated ability to support and develop the application and mentor others
  • Previous experience working with specified customer base
  • Ability to handle moderate complexity of work with minimal supervision

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Epic Ambulatory certification required
  • Applicant is expected to maintain certification as current by completing New Version Training (NVT), as applicable
  • For certain clinical applications, clinical licensure is preferred and may be required as specified in Job Aid

Essential Functions:

The Application Analyst III is the primary support for the assigned application(s). In addition to the duties discussed in the Role Description, the Analyst is responsible for the following:

1) Executing Application Design and Build:

  • Designing and building the related application
  • Coordinating with Operations to optimize the design of the application’s capabilities and workflows
  • Utilizing external resources for best practice builds and solutions
  • Performing a thorough review of all Foundation Build and operational requested content and workflows for the application
  • Investigating, documenting, and evaluating current state workflows as it pertains to build and offering technology solutions for workflow enhancements in collaboration with analyst peers, training staff, and other stakeholders
  • Building data fields, screens, templates, and customer-defined functionality as required
  • Collaborating with the training team and others to ensure alignment between the proposed training curriculum and the system build
  • Overseeing and/or performing analysis of necessary application modifications
  • Following build standards and maintaining synchronization between environments in collaboration with the environment team
  • Working with minimal supervision
  • Acting as a resource for Application Analysts I & II
  • Assisting with the development of Change Readiness demos and documentation

2) Application Support:

  • Providing go-live support for customers on new applications, including functionality
  • Providing on-call support for the application through go-live and post go-live
  • Representing the application in Integrated Area Workgroups
  • Possessing comprehensive knowledge of subject matter
  • Working with customers and informatics on enhancement request requirements
  • Supporting continuous documentation of system modifications and updates
  • Handling complex issues
  • Taking initiative to problem-solve within job scope
  • Sharing knowledge and functioning as a preceptor for staff
  • Validating work performed by newly certified or new work by level 1 & 2 Analysts
  • Keeping knowledge of industry trends, application enhancements, and future impact to enterprise

3) Documentation and Communication:

  • Maintaining continued ticket communication with customers ongoing and with closing incident, catalog, and enhancement tickets, including details in ticket resolution/closing
  • Contacting the customer regarding ticket resolution if resolved or unable to fill request
  • Logging decisions and issues/risks in trackers during build/projects
  • Supporting application governance needs, including the development of business cases for decisions
  • Maintaining version control of workflows, issues/risks log, and decisions tracker
  • Supervising basic issues and roadblocks, escalating issues as needed
  • Communicating with supervisors to determine necessary escalations
  • Presenting oral and written communication to project team
  • Exhibiting excellent presentation skills

4) Project Management:

  • Recommending areas for process improvement
  • Developing future state materials
  • Project managing smaller to medium scale builds
  • Following the process for identification, tracking, resolution, and closure of all issues
  • Ensuring that the team follows change control processes according to policy
  • Collaborating with team members across the department as well as operational staff
  • Developing test scripts and new systems, complying with version upgrades and system modifications
