Description

Job Summary:
Reporting to Inpatient Clinical or Ambulatory Manager, this individual should have the ability to handle analysis, design system configuration and testing tasks at a low level of complexity. This individual will serve as a liaison and resource to end user departments in evaluating needs/requirements and recommends appropriate solutions pertaining to clinical information systems, thus excellent customer service skills, along with highly effective written / verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Responsibilities include analysis, design, application configuration, development, communication testing and implementation.

The Applications Analyst I works independently and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks. Days and hours worked may be variable.

Education:
Required:
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Clinical Informatics, Nursing or Allied Health, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required:
0 to 3 years operational experience in a clinical or healthcare business operations setting or a year of computer courses.
General understanding of the work flows in clinical or healthcare business operations.

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
Complete education and pass certification in assigned EPIC application module(s) within 120 days of completed education.

Preferred:
EPIC certification in the module(s) being represented
Experience in EMR Installations

Department Position Summary:
The employee must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide comprehensive support for systems/applications to which he/she is assigned. The employee must demonstrate knowledge on health care operations and the application of information technology to aid and improve health care functions.

The employee must:
Participates in the development and design of the application(s) for which there is an in-depth knowledge required of the assigned system

Demonstrate basic knowledge of computer systems, applications and interfaces

Exhibits ability to gather the appropriate data and devise and design low complexity systems solutions

Demonstrates ability to devise simple to moderately complex
benchmarking metrics to assess system performance

Demonstrates attention to detail in data gathering, specifications development and documentation and recording

Communicates effectively with users, colleagues, and developers

Demonstrates basic degree of analytical skills

Works under direct supervision in support of team initiatives

Completes current process analysis and data flow mapping using standard tools to effectively document and communicate findings

Ability to incorporate policies, procedures and specific clinical practice and/or business processing needs

Completes approved system changes as specified and in a timely manner

Performs system troubleshooting in a systematic manner and solves problems within the scope of his/her control in a timely manner

Highly effective written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships and education

Strong organizational skills in managing multiple priorities

Uses critical thinking skills regarding use of the clinical / business operations software applications

Demonstrates understanding of the departmental and organizational technology strategies and objectives

Develops project plans or task lists and reviews with project team regularly to manage timeline

Follows best practice system/database design principles when developing applications or making changes

Demonstrates expertise in technical design techniques for related software applications

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook with proficiency in Microsoft Visio

Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and flexibility in problem resolution
