The part-time nursing clinical faculty member works under the supervision of full-time faculty to plan, instruct, evaluate, and communicate student progress in clinical settings. Responsibilities include collaborating with healthcare agency personnel, following program policies, and attending faculty meetings. The role emphasizes modeling professional behavior, critical thinking, and ensuring student safety and learning outcomes.
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:**
Working knowledge of current clinical nursing practice in areas such as medical/surgical, OB, Peds, or mental health. Minimum Bachelors of Science in Nursing, with current RN licensure in Ohio, and at least two years of nursing experience. Demonstrates critical thinking, clinical reasoning, effective communication, and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure. Must be able to provide safe patient care and adapt to hospital equipment and protocols.
**Essential Functions:**
- Meet agency requirements for orientation and facilitate student orientation.
- Serve as a role model demonstrating professionalism, ethics, and accountability.
- Plan, instruct, and evaluate clinical learning experiences under faculty supervision.
- Consider clients’ needs in educational planning.
- Use educational theory and evidence-based practices to develop strategies for adult learners.
- Communicate goals and outcomes to agency staff.
- Collaborate with staff to foster critical reasoning skills.
- Evaluate student progress and communicate effectively with students.
- Demonstrate caring, confidence, compassion, flexibility, and integrity.
- Maintain communication with faculty and adhere to policies.
- Attend faculty meetings and fulfill other responsibilities as assigned.
**Minimum Education/Experience:**
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Current, unencumbered RN license in Ohio.
- Two years of nursing experience.
