AppleCare Data Privacy Project Manager in Sunnyvale, CA leads cross-functional teams across AppleCare, Data Privacy, and Legal to protect customer data while delivering complex initiatives.

The role oversees PIAs, LIAs, ROIs and Records of Processing, guiding privacy assessments and remediation work from concept to delivery in a fast-paced environment, ensuring regulatory compliance and privacy standards across systems and workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent privacy/compliance experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Good understanding of legal frameworks, data protection principles, and legislative processes.
  • Proven project management experience with extensive, practical knowledge of PM methodologies, frameworks, techniques, and tools.
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver medium- to large-scale, global, cross-functional projects on tight timelines.
  • Strong technical acumen to navigate end-to-end systems.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity, adapt to changing priorities, and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent relationship-building, collaboration, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between AppleCare, Data Privacy, and other departments to ensure compliant project delivery.
  • Guide Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs), Secondary Use Data Requests, and Records of Processing (ROPs) filed accurately and on time.
  • Drive privacy activities with business owners to maintain global regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate efforts stemming from investigations or internal audits.
  • Assist Legal teams in responses to regulatory inquiries.
  • Own data privacy issues with escalation management and root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain Radar management and centralized privacy repositories.
  • Lead data privacy projects end-to-end from inception to post-launch review.
  • Develop project documentation per AppleCare Technologies standards.
  • Communicate project expectations, risks, and status clearly to stakeholders.
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks across cross-functional teams.
  • Identify and resolve issues and roadblocks across all workstreams.
  • Plan, schedule, and track timelines using PM tools.

The AppleCare Data Privacy Project Manager acts as the critical bridge between AppleCare business operations, Data Privacy, and Legal teams. In this role, you will champion customer trust and data protection across AppleCare systems, tools, and processes. You will guide cross-functional teams through essential privacy assessments, drive compliance with evolving global regulations, manage privacy-critical issues, and lead complex projects from initial concept through to final delivery and review—ensuring operational goals are met without compromising on privacy standards.

Description

As a Data Privacy Project Manager within AppleCare, you will oversee and drive data privacy activities across a diverse, global landscape of systems and business workflows. Working in close partnership with Privacy Legal, technical architects, and organizational DRIs, you will ensure that Privacy Impact Assessments, Legitimate Interest Assessments, Secondary Use requests, and Records of Processing are executed with rigor and precision.Beyond compliance governance, you will lead end-to-end technical and operational projects following AppleCare Technologies standards. You will navigate complex system dependencies, facilitate cross-functional workshops, manage Radar tracking systems and privacy repositories, and lead remediation efforts tied to audits and regulatory inquiries. The ideal candidate brings a blend of structured project management discipline, sound understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks, strong technical acumen, and the ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary liaison between AppleCare, Data Privacy, and other departments within AC to ensure business project needs and operational processes are adequately met while remaining fully compliant.
  • Partner with org-specific DRIs and Privacy Legal teams to provide guidance, ensuring Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs), Secondary Use Data Requests, and Records of Processing (ROPs) are filed accurately and on time.
  • Drive data privacy activities with business owners to achieve and maintain compliance with current and upcoming global privacy laws and internal policies.
  • Coordinate efforts to implement operational and technical changes stemming from regulatory investigations or internal audit findings.
  • Help investigate and support Legal teams in preparing responses to regulatory inquiries.
  • Drive and own Data Privacy critical issues, managing escalations, root-cause analyses, and mitigation plans.
  • Maintain functional Radar management and a centralized global repository system for AppleCare systems, tools, and processes.
  • Direct and lead Data Privacy project activities across the full project lifecycle, from project inception to final implementation and post-launch review.
  • Develop required project documentation throughout the project lifecycle in accordance with AppleCare Technologies project standards and methodologies.
  • Effectively communicate all elements of project expectations, risks, and status to team members, leadership, and partners in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel, cross-functional partners, and team members.
  • Identify and resolve issues, roadblocks, and conflicts as they arise across all project workstreams.
  • Plan, schedule, and track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables using appropriate project management tools and methodologies.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand technical issues and navigate complex, end-to-end systems landscapes.
  • Proven ability to deal with ambiguity, adapt to changing priorities, and make sound decisions in dynamic environments.
  • Excellent relationship-building, cross-functional collaboration, and leadership skills.

  • Experience facilitating brainstorming and requirements-gathering sessions, with the ability to perform robust business process analysis and provide solution recommendations.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Dedicated background or direct experience in Data Privacy, Regulatory Compliance, or Information Governance.
  • Professional qualification/certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2) or Data Privacy (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT).
  • Hands‑on literacy and experience with enterprise business applications such as SAP, GSX, iLog, CAS, Radar, or equivalent platforms.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $115,900 and $224,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
