Job summary

Groundswell is seeking an Appian Test Engineering Lead to support testing of web-based applications with automation focus. You will shape test strategy, environment, and data, while guiding a testing team across design, execution, and reporting activities.

The role requires 5+ years of software testing, 2+ years of automation, and leadership experience. On-site/hybrid work in McLean, VA; U.S. citizen with potential TS clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• 5+ years of software testing experience with cross-functional teams.
• 2+ years of automation testing experience.
• Experience leading a team and mentoring junior team members.
• Experience interpreting requirements and writing test documentation (Test Reports, UAT criteria).
• Proficiency with test management and automation tools (Playwright, Selenium).

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of overall test strategy, environment design, and data in alignment with requirements.
• Provide leadership in hiring, mentoring, and evaluating testing staff.
• Plan, execute, and report on software development and maintenance testing.
• Develop and implement test plans and procedures based on specifications.
• Collaborate with testing groups to address issues and ensure quality processes.
• Communicate status regarding upgrades, downtime, and system changes.
