Job description

We are a private real estate investment management company providing operations services covering all functions needed for real estate investment - property management, bookkeeping, construction, maintenance, and investment.

Overview: Our ideal candidate is a highly organized, analytical, and proactive Bookkeeper with 2–3+ years of deep hands-on bookkeeping experience using AppFolio to manage real estate. You’ll lead a small but vital team, oversee property management accounting, and serve as the operations backbone of our business.

You must also know Appfolio, Outlook, Excel, and Word and be able to communicate well via email and text.

What You'll Do:

  1. Reporting and Compliance
    • Generate and customize financial reports (in and outside AppFolio) for tax and business decisions
    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations across multiple properties
    • Oversee license renewals, insurance tracking, and annual filings
  2. Team and Process Leadership
    • Lead and mentor accounting and office staff
    • Develop SOPs and internal systems to improve efficiency and accuracy
    • Cultivate a cohesive, productive, and positive team environment
  3. Operations and Vendor Management
    • Coordinate with external property managers to ensure monthly financial accuracy
    • Interface with vendors – contracts, billing, payroll, resolution of discrepancies
    • Review payroll data and reports for submission to payroll provider

What You Bring:

Experience and Skills

  • 2–3+ years of AppFolio experience (must be expert-level – no substitutes)
  • Property management operations and accounting
  • Solid grasp of GAAP, bookkeeping, and financial reporting
  • Experience in office management and team supervision
  • Excellent written communication and email etiquette
