Job summary

The Children’s Law Center invites law students for a Summer 2027 Internship in Appellate/Writing. Working with our writing/appellate team, you will hone legal research and writing skills in family law. Activities include drafting memoranda, motions, and portions of appellate briefs, plus citation checking and reviewing case records.

The program runs full-time from June 7 to August 13 with a hybrid model, offering opportunities to observe court proceedings and meet with clients and attorneys.

Qualifications

• Candidates must demonstrate strong writing and research abilities.
• Familiarity with legal analysis and citation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and digest case records (school, medical, forensic reports).
• Draft memoranda of law, motions, and sections of appellate briefs and trial summations.
• Perform factual and legal citation checking of documents.
• Observe court proceedings, client interviews, and attorney conferences when available.
