Job summary

Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office seeks an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney (Appellate Division) to handle criminal appeals in the First District Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court. The role requires strong research, writing, and oral-argument skills, with responsibilities across appellate and trial-court support.

The starting salary is $84,388 annually, with additional compensation based on experience. Hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; position is in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate and Ohio law license required.
• Strong legal research and writing skills required.
• Ability to appear and argue before Ohio courts required.
• Experience with LexisNexis for legal research preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research, write briefs and motions related to criminal appeals and argue in the First District Court of Appeals; may serve as amicus curiae.
• Research and brief in Ohio Supreme Court; prepare jurisdictional memos and merit briefs.
• Assist trial divisions with research, pleadings, and evidentiary matters in the trial courts.
• Handle post-conviction matters and hearings; stay updated on developments in law and legislation.
