Hawthorne Lane in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Appellate Paralegal to support a dynamic litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of federal appellate and U.S.

Supreme Court experience; non-practicing attorneys with relevant background are encouraged to apply. We offer substantive work, excellent benefits, and a great work environment, with a hybrid work option including three days work-from-home after training.

Responsibilities

• Provide case management on complex litigation matters.
• Proofread, cite-check, Bluebook, and Shepardize briefs; prepare appendices; monitor appeal status.
• Conduct research, maintain documents/exhibits, and prepare for hearings/trials.
• Communicate with attorneys, courts, clients, vendors, and staff as needed.
• Utilize MS Office and legal technology to manage document databases.
• Docket deadlines, maintain calendars, and coordinate electronic case rooms.

The preferred candidate for this unique role will have at least five or more years of expertise with federal appellate and U.S. Supreme Court matters. The salary listed reflects the anticipated compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, location, business considerations, and internal equity. Final offer amounts are determined at the employer’s discretion.
