State of Oklahoma's Oklahoma Indigent Defense System (OIDS) seeks a full-time Appellate Defense Counsel in Norman to handle direct appeals in capital and non-capital cases before the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals.

Responsibilities include case management, legal research, brief preparation, client communication, and potential involvement in certiorari petitions. Minimum annual salary is $68,700 with agency salary schedule and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Oklahoma state court system and appellate process.
• Ability to conduct thorough legal research for direct appeals.
• Understanding of civil and criminal law and procedure.
• Strong written and oral communication with clients and courts.

Responsabilités

• Manage all phases of direct appeal in Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals.
• Prepare or assist in appellate briefs and pleadings; supervise as needed.
• Communicate with clients regarding case status and needs.
• Investigate matters outside trial record when required.
