Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school with a J.D.
• Active license to practice law in Texas and in good standing
• Eligible to practice in Texas by start date
• Knowledge of Federal habeas practices and procedures
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work in person at the OAG office and travel up to 15%

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and monitor legal activities in the Criminal Appeals Division.
• Provide legal advice, counsel, and assistance to the State.
• Represent the State's interests in civil and criminal matters.
• Review, evaluate, and render legal opinions; draft bills for legislative consideration.
