Job summary

BD&J, Pc is seeking an appearance attorney (contract) in Los Angeles to represent clients at Minor’s Compromise hearings and support the litigation team throughout the approval process. The ideal candidate holds a JD from an accredited law school, an active California Bar license, and 2+ years of civil litigation experience with strong oral advocacy and time-management skills.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active California Bar license in good standing.
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience required.
• Personal injury experience preferred but not required.
• Strong oral advocacy and courtroom presentation skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
• Strong attention to detail and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Represent BD&J at Minor’s Compromise hearings.
• Review petitions and supporting documentation prepared by the Minor’s Compromise team prior to appearances.
• Coordinate with supervising attorneys to ensure hearings are properly prepared.
• Communicate hearing outcomes, court directives, and next steps to the litigation team.
• Provide professional and effective client representation during court proceedings.
• Maintain accurate case documentation in compliance with firm standards.
• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to ensure matters move efficiently through the approval process.
• Stay current on California laws, court rules, and procedures related to Minor’s Compromise matters.
