Job summary

The Department of Natural Resources, Office of the Commissioner, is recruiting for an Appeals Coordinator in Anchorage, Alaska. This role manages an appeal docket, drafts letters to appellants, coordinates records, handles public records requests, and supports ethics co-management with DNR leadership.

It requires paralegal training or tribunal experience, clear writing, strong organizational and analytical skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include training as a paralegal or experience working with a tribunal.
• Ability to write clearly.
• Good communication and analytical skills.
• College education or paralegal certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage an appeal docket, monitor the DNR appeals mailbox, and organize and archive appeal files.
• Review incoming appeals and draft acknowledgment letters and deficiency letters when warranted.
• Assess incoming appeals for potential stays pending appeal and request agency records.
• Handle public record requests and inquiries from appellants, attorneys, and other interested parties.
• Proofread and edit appeal decisions for the Commissioner’s review and signature.
• Assemble agency records for the Commissioner’s office and co-manage the ethics program.
