Wilson Elser is seeking an Appeals and Complex Motions Associate Attorney in New York, NY. This role focuses on appellate matters across a broad range of cases, offering growth within the appellate practice and opportunities to take on more complex tasks.

The ideal candidate holds a JD from an accredited law school, is admitted to the NY bar (NJ a plus), and has 2–4 years of defense litigation experience with strong writing, research, and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in New York; NJ bar admission a plus.
• 2–4 years of defense litigation experience.
• Appellate experience preferred but not required; strong writing and analytical skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Handle the full spectrum of appellate cases from start to finish.
• Draft appellate motions, including dismissals, and extension requests.
• Negotiate stipulations on briefing schedules and appellate records.
• Conduct ad hoc legal research for trial teams and assist with MILs and SJ motions.
• Provide motion support to trial teams for various post-trial and summary judgment motions.
