Job summary

Sweet Apparel Inc. in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a detail-oriented Production Coordinator to support sweater development and ensure on-time delivery. This on-site role collaborates with design, production, and logistics to manage calendars, POs, and quality milestones.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of production experience in apparel, fashion, or textiles.
• Overseas production experience is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
• Strong Excel skills (Pivot, VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP).
• Familiarity with FOB, LDP, and DDP; shipping and logistics knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Manage full production calendar aligned with seasonal buy plans and delivery windows.
• Issue, track, and follow up on purchase orders through production.
• Monitor WIP and flag at-risk orders.
• Coordinate fabric, trim, and material sourcing with factories to avoid delays.
• Liaise with overseas factories on status, capacity planning, and issues.
• Negotiate production costs, minimums, and lead times.
• Ensure factories meet compliance, labor, and quality standards.
• Oversee quality control at key production milestones; manage issue resolution.
• Resolve quality issues including negotiating debits with factories when needed.
• Ensure production complies with standards and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with logistics for container bookings and on-time delivery.
• Track past-due shipments and drive resolution.
• Reconcile production data with shipping and invoicing records.
• Prepare regular production status reports and KPIs.

The company is recognized for high standards in design, quality, and timely delivery to retail partners and brands. Teams collaborate closely across design, production, and operations to bring fashion-forward products to market efficiently.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Production Coordinator to support apparel development within our sweater division!

Please note: this is an on-site position in Midtown Manhattan where we work in office 5 days/week!

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full production calendar, ensuring alignment with seasonal buy plans and customer delivery windows
• Issue, track, and follow up on purchase orders through every stage of production
• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) reports and proactively flag at-risk orders
• Coordinate fabric, trim, and material sourcing timelines with factories to avoid production delays
• Serve as the primary liaison with overseas factories on production status, capacity planning, and issue resolution
• Negotiate production costs, minimums, and lead times
• Ensure factories adhere to compliance, labor, and quality standards
• Oversee quality control processes and inspections at key production milestones
• Manage resolution of quality issues, including negotiating chargebacks or debits with factories when applicable
• Ensure all production complies with company standards and applicable regulatory requirements
• Partner with logistics and shipping teams to ensure timely container bookings and on-time delivery to distribution centers and retail partners
• Track past-due and at-risk shipments, escalating issues and driving resolution
• Reconcile production data against shipping and invoicing records to confirm accuracy
• Prepare and present regular production status reports, KPIs, and past-due analyses to leadership
• Support financial reporting by providing accurate production cost and timeline data

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in production within the apparel, fashion, or textile industry. Sweaters experience a huge plus!
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred
• Proven track record managing production overseas
• Experience managing production for both wholesale and off-price retail channels a plus
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis)
• Strong understanding of costing terms including FOB, LDP, and DDP
• Familiarity with international shipping, customs, and logistics processes
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
• Sharp attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy under deadline pressure
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate and resolve production risks proactively

Target compensation for this role starts at $70k/yr dependent on experience
