Job summary

The Workshop LA is seeking a Freelance Designer in Los Angeles for a hybrid role (4 days onsite, 1 day remote). You will focus on sweaters, collaborating with the Design Director and Creative Director to develop color stories and produce technical packs.

In a fast-moving studio, you’ll design seasonal knitwear, refine concepts, and support production timelines while contributing across other categories as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing sweaters and knitwear in the women’s contemporary market.
• Strong knowledge of knit construction, yarns, gauges and stitch techniques.
• Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop, with strong technical flat and tech pack skills.
• A keen eye for trend, color and fabrication; able to turn ideas into wearable, commercial product.
• Collaborative team player able to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Designing seasonal sweater collections, with a primary focus on knits and a hand for color, texture and stitch
• Developing concepts, trend and color stories, and inspiration boards in collaboration with the Design Director and Creative Director
• Creating technical packages, sketches and detailed specs for production
• Supporting other product categories as needs arise
• Partnering with the Assistant Designer and wider team on fittings, sample reviews and product development timelines

Our client, a Los Angeles-born contemporary lifestyle brand known for effortless, elevated everyday pieces, is looking for a Freelance Designer to join their growing team. This role is based in Los Angeles with a hybrid schedule of 4 days onsite and 1 day remote.
