Job Responsibilities:
  • Plan, direct, and supervise team members in daily store operations across various departments.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach for team members, implementing strategies to improve customer service, increase sales, and meet customer needs efficiently.
  • Maintain store appearance, focusing on prime shopping hours, product presentation, and company standards.
  • Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
  • Manage staffing, including hiring and scheduling, in line with labor budgets and business needs.
  • Review attendance records, including missed shifts and late arrivals.
  • Design department layouts using planograms and floor plans.
  • Promote succession planning by providing career development opportunities and participating in promotion decisions.
  • Handle disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning employee discharge.
  • Manage P&L, achieve sales targets, and control departmental shrinkage.
  • Model exceptional customer service and communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all interactions.
  • Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals, ensuring adherence to Meijer standards.
  • Ensure team members are thoroughly trained and have completed all required training.
  • Spend the majority of time within the store communicating with customers and team members to ensure service excellence.
  • Promote a safe work environment and maintain reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years of relevant retail experience.
  • At least one year of management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear and precise team guidance.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and address root causes.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Skills in analyzing financial and statistical data to make informed decisions.
  • Ability to teach suggestive selling techniques.
  • Commitment to practicing safe work habits at all times.
  • Experience mentoring team members across various roles.
  • Successful completion of all required certifications.
