Job summary

Smith's Food & Drug Centers is seeking team members to provide outstanding customer service and maintain a welcoming, well-organized department. You will assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals while upholding health, safety, and QA standards within the store.

Ideal candidates will be at least 18 years old, capable of basic math, and committed to staying current with store ads and product knowledge. Prior merchandising experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Must meet the minimum physical demands of the position.
• Knowledge of basic math: counting, addition, and subtraction.
• Desired: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Second language: speaking, reading and/or writing.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil codes.
• Model excellent customer service and maintain a clean department.
• Demonstrate creative merchandising and keep displays stocked.
• Be aware of product arrival dates and meet production deadlines.
• Complete paperwork according to policy.
• Follow merchandising, customer service, cash control, labor control, expense and safety rules.
• Promote sales through intercom announcements.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Notify management of accidents and safety risks.

• Promote sales through intercom announcements.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report all safety risks, or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.
