Overview

The pediatric surgical APP works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. The APP functions as a member of the surgical management team and will oversee care from clinic to OR/inpatient to discharge and throughout all aspects of the continuum of care, in conjunction with the attending physician.

Responsibilities

• The APP will assist with patient and family care and help support the unit as they move through the UK system.
• Demonstrate an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, and professional communication.
• Ensure timely and compliant documentation and ongoing professional development and competency validation.

Qualifications

• Required Education: MSN for Nurse Practitioners or BS for Physician Assistants
• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Acute Care (CPNP-AC) certification or enrollment in post graduate certificate program within one year of hire, or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C)
• 1 year related experience
• Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
• Shift: Monday – Friday, Day Shift; typically 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (40 hrs/wk)
