Job summary

Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin, seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery team. You will work closely with surgeons and anesthesiologists to provide comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care for adult patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.

The ideal candidate has NP/PA credentials with board certification in AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG, and 1–3 years of cardio/thoracic experience.

Qualifications

• Master's/postmaster's/doctorate from NP program accredited by CCNE or NLNAC
• 1–3 years of cardio/thoracic surgery, critical care or surgical specialties strongly preferred
• Current RN and NP licensure in each state of practice
• Current DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice
• State CDS license if required by state
• Board certification as AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG; other certifications require leadership approval

Responsibilities

Job description

Marshfield Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery to join our team in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care for adult patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic procedures. Working in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary care team, the NP plays a critical role in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative management of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of a master's, postmaster's, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
• If licensing prior to August 1, 1995, a master's degree in nursing is preferred.
  1–3 years of experience in cardiovascular/thoracic surgery, critical care, or surgical specialties strongly preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice (physical or virtual).
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
• State Controlled Substance License (if required by State).
• National board certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) or ACNPC-AG), Acute Care Adult (ACNP-BC). Additional certifications require approval from a market executive leader: Family (FNP-BC) or (FNP–C), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC) or (A-GNP).
• Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
• Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists
