Qualifications

• Current NNP Certification required.
• Successful completion of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program.
• State of Michigan license required.
• Minimum two years of NICU experience necessary.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, planning, and evaluation of care for newborns.
• Order and interpret labs and diagnostic imaging.
• Attend high-risk deliveries for resuscitation.
• Perform neonatal transports between hospital systems.
• Write orders for medications and treatments.
• Assist with nursing education and competency assessment.

Requirements

• Current NNP Certification Required

Duties & Responsibilities

A typical day may include:

• Providing assessment, planning, and evaluation of care for newborns under the direction of attending pediatricians
• Ordering, interpreting, and documenting labs, diagnostic imaging, and treatment plans
• Attending high-risk deliveries to provide resuscitation and stabilization
• Independently performing neonatal transports between hospital systems
• Writing orders for medications, IV therapy, nutrition, blood products, admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Participating in nursing education, competency assessment, and staff consultation
• Assisting with quality improvement initiatives, policy development, and unit procedures
• Submitting accurate and timely billing
• Engaging in ongoing professional development through education and training
• Maintaining confidentiality, safety practices, and adherence to Trinity Healths Mission, Vision, and Values

The Livonia campus includes a Level I nursery averaging 1,000 deliveries annually, and the Ann Arbor campus houses a Level III NICU with about 4,500 deliveries each year.
