Job Summary

Responsible for managing reporting APPs and APP supervisors, including activities related to patient care, service line development, quality improvement, strategic planning, and policy enforcement. Ensures APP clinical work aligns with scope of practice and hospital protocols. Assesses staffing effectiveness, mentors APPs, and handles administrative duties such as hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and compliance with review processes. Represents APPs to external review agencies.

The position is typically split evenly between administrative and clinical responsibilities, as determined by leadership.

Note: This is a 40-hour position that may include off-shifts, weekends, and holidays. Provides leadership within a specialty service with potential expansion based on organizational needs.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates on clinical growth and process improvements, participating in leadership meetings.
  • Evaluates and adjusts APP staffing based on clinical needs.
  • Works with APP leadership on recruitment, retention, and recognition.
  • Monitors financial metrics such as reimbursement and utilization.
  • Oversees CE/CME policies and expenses.
  • Develops peer review and quality metrics, supports professional evaluations.
  • Develops FPPE with physician leadership.
  • Manages change within service lines, oversees clinical training and education, and manages APP performance evaluations.
  • Coordinates scheduling and clinical work, with a 50% clinical role in area of expertise.

Supervision

  • Reports to APP Director and physician leader; collaborates with physicians during clinical duties.

Supervision Exercised

  • Provides administrative supervision over APPs in assigned areas.

Qualifications

Physician Assistant Candidate

  • Current MI license, ARC-PA accredited program, NCCPA certification, MI Controlled Substance License, DEA registration, BLS, 5+ years clinical, 2+ years leadership.

Nurse Practitioner Candidate

  • Current MI licensure, accredited NP program, DEA registration, BLS, 5+ years clinical, 2+ years leadership.
