Job Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider responsible for the assessment and management of various patient populations, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of care plans, and ongoing evaluation. May also perform duties such as precepting learners.

Essential Functions
  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops care plans and follow-up based on diagnostic, laboratory, and physical exam findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to policies and procedures.
  • Provides timely documentation including admission, progress, procedure, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures appropriate to the patient population.

Qualifications

Education: Master's Degree in Physician Assistant required. No experience in lieu of degree accepted.

Licenses and Credentials: Physician Assistant License required.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of PA experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled in taking medical histories and interpreting findings.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Calm and effective in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Effective communication with patients, staff, and the public.
