Job summary

Redington-Fairview General Hospital is seeking a Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our GI team. This full-time role supports an outpatient gastroenterology clinic with potential inpatient consults, collaborating closely with one gastroenterologist and clinical staff to deliver high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have Maine licensure eligibility as an NP/PA, national certification, and BLS, plus strong clinical judgment and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Current Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate licensure eligible in the State of Maine.
• National board certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• Excellent clinical assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Preferred: gastroenterology, internal medicine, primary care, or related specialty experience.
• Preferred: experience with complex or chronic medical conditions and outpatient procedures.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with gastrointestinal disorders in the outpatient setting.
• Collaborate with gastroenterologist and care team; participate in pre/post-procedure management.
• Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies.
• Provide patient education on diagnoses, medications, procedures, nutrition, and lifestyle changes.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and coordinate referrals as needed.
• Support access, outcomes, and patient experience initiatives within the department.

Job Title: Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Provider (APP)

Full time: 32-40 HRS week

Redington-Fairview General Hospital is seeking a compassionate, highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Gastroenterology team. This is an excellent opportunity to work collaboratively with (1) full-time Gastroenterologist and clinical staff while providing high-quality care to patients throughout Central Maine.

The Gastroenterology APP will evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions in the outpatient setting with the potential for occasional inpatient consults. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients with gastrointestinal disorders.
• Manage both acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions.
• Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies.
• Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, procedures, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications.
• Collaborate closely with gastroenterologist, primary care providers, and other members of the care team.
• Assist with pre-procedure and post-procedure patient management.
• Participate in follow-up care and coordinate referrals and additional diagnostic testing as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Promote quality, safety, and evidence-based practices throughout patient care.
• Participate in department initiatives designed to improve access, outcomes, and the overall patient experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in gastroenterology, internal medicine, primary care, or a related specialty is preferred.

• Experience in an outpatient specialty or procedural environment is preferred.
