Patient Care Technician (PCT) – St. Rita's Medical Center

Job Summary: A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or healthcare professional. Responsibilities include sanitizing patient rooms, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with basic needs such as feeding and grooming.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Provide basic patient care, including comfort, vital signs, personal care, and mobility assistance.
  2. Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
  3. Deliver high-quality customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
  4. Accurately document patient care activities.
  5. Participate in hand-offs and report pertinent information during shift changes.
  6. Perform delegated tasks after competency validation.
  7. Mobilize patients using safe transfer techniques.
  8. Encourage patient independence and personalize care based on interests.
Qualifications:
  • Education: None required
  • Licensure/Certification: BLS (preferred upon hire), completion of nursing aide training or equivalent, or relevant clinical experience.
  • Experience: Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health, hospice, or long-term care preferred but not required.
  • Skills & Abilities: Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills; proactive in a dynamic environment.
