Director of API Manufacturing (Practice Area Lead)

Location: Flexible/Remote with Travel

Experience: 10+ years in API pharmaceutical manufacturing

Type: High-level advisory/ad-hoc consulting to start with strong likelihood of growth into full-time opportunity.

Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned industry leader to build and lead our API Manufacturing Practice. This individual will bring subject matter expertise in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) production and drive high-value consulting engagements while shaping talent strategies for our pharmaceutical clients.

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead and grow the API manufacturing vertical as part of our overall Life Sciences practice area.
• Guide clients through facility buildouts, expansions, and modernization of API manufacturing capabilities.
• Advise on production line startup, optimization strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide expert insights into engineering, site readiness, and operational excellence.
• Develop SME-level resourcing strategies to support engineering, quality, automation, and compliance efforts.
• Partner with business development teams to identify opportunities and shape solutions for clients in the API space.
• Mentor internal teams on API manufacturing best practices and trends.
• Assist with SOW build outs - vetting risk & deliverables associated to professional services engagements.

Ideal Background:

• 10+ years of experience in API manufacturing, with a strong background in engineering, operations, or facility management.
• Proven leadership in greenfield/brownfield facility stand-up, technology transfer, or continuous manufacturing.
• Experience with GMP, validation, and regulatory compliance in API settings.
• Familiarity with CDMOs, small molecule/large molecule APIs, and scalable production technologies.
