API Engineer: (Contract/Hybrid - Based in Charlotte, NC area!)

Optomi, in partnership with an industry leader in the Financial Services industry, is seeking an API Engineer to join their team. This role involves developing scalable backend APIs and supporting the migration from REST to GraphQL. The position is hybrid and based in Charlotte, NC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain backend APIs using Node.js and Express (SOAP & REST).
  • Contribute to the GraphQL migration, implementing schemas with TypeScript.
  • Build and support AWS-based solutions using Lambda and the AWS SDK.
  • Collaborate in agile squads to enhance Strata, a core middleware platform.
  • Integrate internal tools with platforms like Salesforce, Genesis, and LiveEngage.
  • Use Git and GitLab for source control and CI/CD workflows.
  • Support and troubleshoot production systems and services.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Express, AWS SDK, Lambda, Git, and GitLab.
  • Experience with GraphQL and TypeScript on the backend.
  • Strong aptitude for scalable systems and modern cloud architecture.
  • Nice to have: AWS AppSync, Apollo, Terraform, AWS S3, MESH or Yoga (GraphQL servers).
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
