Job description

AZRA is a specialty niche reinsurer, domiciled in California and licensed as an admitted insurer in 36 states (including District of Columbia), and is a qualified, accredited, or approved reinsurer in fifteen states. AZRA is a property casualty reinsurer which writes both prospective and legacy reinsurance. AZRA has specific expertise in run-off management of U.S. legacy insurance liabilities. It services Allianz Group affiliates and third parties including third-party claims administration of asbestos, environmental, workers compensation, general liability, and construction defect liabilities.

AZRA has approximately 150 employees located nationwide, with the majority working remotely.

Claims Specialist III - APH TPA Team (Remote, USA)

We are seeking a Claims Specialist III to join our APH Third Party Administration team, based anywhere in the USA.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage a caseload of complex APH accounts.
2. Ensure timely claim management of new loss assignments and reassignments.
3. Develop account strategies and manage mass tort litigation.
4. Evaluate asbestos, pollution, and/or health hazard cases.
5. Provide oversight to defense counsel and vendors based on litigation strategies.
6. Identify cases suitable for trial and complete pre-trial and trial activities.
7. Understand and make complex coverage decisions related to coverage issues.
8. Analyze claim trends, billing, and other financial data.
9. Coordinate with business partners according to TPA guidelines.

Qualifications:

1. 3-5 years of APH claim handling experience with increasing responsibilities.
2. Analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated, with a desire to learn about complex claims.
3. Strong technical background, especially in coverage issues and liability policy interpretation.
4. In-depth knowledge of liability policy language.
5. Ability to guide and oversee defense counsel.
6. Capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
7. Experience in regulated environments ensuring compliance.
8. Strong communication and presentation skills.
9. Juris Doctor degree preferred but not required.
10. State licenses as required.
11. Experience with artificial intelligence tools, e.g., generative AI.
12. Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without future sponsorship.

This role may require occasional national travel on short notice. The position reports to the Claims Director, APH TPA Team.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary range: $100,000 - $150,000, depending on experience, qualifications, location, and internal factors. The position is also eligible for an annual incentive program.
