Job summary

AIR Communities is seeking a Maintenance Technician to work onsite at our apartment community in Durham, NC. You will perform routine building maintenance and respond to resident requests to ensure a high level of resident satisfaction.

  • Complete basic apartment turns to ready units for new move-ins.
  • Troubleshoot and repair/replace plumbing, electrical components, HVAC, and appliances as directed.
  • May train other Maintenance Technicians and assist with vendor quality and inspections.

We are hiring a Maintenance Technician to work onsite at our apartment community in Durham, NC.

Whether you are turning an apartment to create the perfect move-in experience for new residents or resolving service requests to ensure that our current residents feel at home, every day is filled with new challenges.

  • Expected hourly rate of $23.00 - $25.00 per hour. You will be provided a pay rate that is in line with your skills and experience as they relate to the requirements of the job.

What You Will Do

  • Provide excellent service to residents and assistance to team members.
  • Follow AIR’s process for completion of basic apartment turns to make the apartment ready for the next resident’s perfect move-in experience
  • With general direction, complete resident requested repairs and routine maintenance (i.e. troubleshoot and repair/replace plumbing, basic electrical components, HVAC equipment, and appliances, etc.)
  • May provide functional/technical direction and training to other Maintenance Technicians and support the development of technical skills.
  • May assist with managing vendor qualityand may perform move-in/move-out inspections.
  • Responsibilities vary based on team member skillset and community needs, mechanical systems, and season.

What You Have

  • At least 2years of maintenance experience, preferably in some form of facilities or building environment
  • Proficient skills in at least two technical trades(plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, HVAC, carpentry, etc.)
  • Ability to work a flexible scheduleincluding evenings, weekends, 7-day work weeks (depending on community needs and seasonality), and on-call shifts (at least one week a month).
  • A reliable mode of transportationto respond to emergency service requests while on-call after hours.
  • Comfort with physical activityas you must be able and willing to move heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
