CAPREIT is seeking an Apartment Maintenance Technician for the Broadway community in Brentwood, NY. You’ll troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heating, water heaters, appliances, plumbing, electrical, and building systems to meet CAPREIT standards.

This role supports the Maintenance Supervisor and provides exceptional resident service in a 114-unit community. Schedule: Monday to Friday with on-call availability; compensation: $23–$27 per hour plus benefits.

Formación

• 1 to 3 years of apartment maintenance experience.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for on-call emergencies.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, and general maintenance.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull maintenance equipment and materials.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Safety-conscious and able to work independently.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain community standards and applicable regulations by troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing systems and fixtures.
• Respond to service requests in a timely manner and notify management when repairs cannot be completed within 24 hours.
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE as required.
• Maintain community appearance: groundskeeping, trash removal, exterior repairs, and inspections.
• Support the Maintenance Supervisor and prepare vacant apartments for move-in.
• Perform preventative maintenance and manage inventory of supplies and tools.
• Interact professionally with residents, prospects, vendors and team members.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

Ensure the Physical Aspects of the Community Meet CAPREIT Standards

Maintain community standards and applicable regulations by troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing:

• Heating and air conditioning systems
• Water heaters
• Appliances
• Plumbing systems
• Electrical systems
• Asphalt and drainage systems
• Building interiors and exteriors
• Carpentry and remodeling projects

You’ll also respond to service requests in a timely manner and notify management when repairs cannot be completed within 24 hours.

Follow Safety Protocols and Procedures

• Operate power equipment and tools safely and properly
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Maintain a safe work environment for residents, team members, and vendors

Maintain Community Appearance

Help ensure the community remains attractive and welcoming by:

• Assisting with groundskeeping and housekeeping
• Removing trash and litter
• Painting and performing exterior repairs
• Replacing interior and exterior light bulbs
• Conducting apartment inspections
• Completing other maintenance-related tasks as needed

Support the Maintenance Supervisor

• Prepare vacant apartments for move-in
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Maintain inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment
• Assist with turnovers and community projects
• Complete other duties as assigned

Support Community Operations

• Distribute community notices as needed
• Interact professionally with residents, prospects, vendors, and team members
• Provide exceptional customer service and responsiveness

Qualifications

Qualified Candidates Will Have:

• 1 to 3 years of apartment maintenance experience
• Valid CFC Certification (Type I & II or Universal Certification) is Preferred
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, and general maintenance
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for on-call emergencies is required
• Ability to provide personal basic tools
• Computer literacy skills
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull maintenance equipment and materials
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks

Schedule: Monday - Friday

On-call availability is required to support community operations and emergency maintenance requests
