Job summary

The Neiders Company is seeking an energetic Leasing Consultant to support a small portfolio across nearby communities. You will lead leasing tours, process applications, and manage renewals while delivering outstanding customer service with a professional approach.

Travel between properties is required; you will coordinate with onsite teams and maintain compliant, accurate leasing documentation throughout the process.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years leasing, sales, or customer service experience; multifamily housing experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with diverse prospects and residents.
  • Working knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and landlord-tenant laws.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct leasing activities including tours, phone and email communication, and follow-up.
  • Achieve occupancy targets and explain lease terms clearly and professionally.
  • Process rental applications, screening reports, credit/background checks, and verifications.
  • Maintain show-ready models, amenities, and office areas.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Leasing Consultant to support our property management team across a small portfolio of nearby communities. In this role, you will be responsible for leasing apartments, renewing leases, generating qualified prospective residents, conducting property tours, and preparing lease documentation. Above all, we are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service with a high level of professionalism and integrity.

This is a multi-site position supporting a small portfolio of nearby communities and requires travel between assigned properties based on operational needs.

Essential Functions: (Include but are not limited to)
Leasing & Sales
  • Conduct all leasing activities, including tours, phone/email communication, and prospect follow-up.
  • Achieve occupancy and leasing KPI targets (closing ratio, traffic conversion, retention
  • Explain lease terms, community policies, and pricing clearly and professionally.
  • Ensure models, amenities, and office areas are maintained in show-ready condition.
Tenant Screening
  • Process rental applications, screening reports, credit/background checks, and verifications.
  • Identify potential risks and follow company protocols for approvals and denials.
Customer Service & Resident Relations
  • Maintain an upbeat, welcoming, and solutions-oriented approach in all interactions.
  • Build rapport with residents to support retention and reduce turnover.
  • Assist in resolving resident concerns and elevate issues appropriately.
  • Exhibit professionalism, empathy, and cultural awareness with diverse populations.
Marketing & Outreach
  • Support online marketing efforts, including posting/updating listings, managing photos, and responding to leads.
  • Assist with social media engagement, resident referral campaigns, signage, and outreach marketing strategies.
  • Highlight community features, amenities, and value propositions tailored to the target demographic.
Rent Collection Support
  • Support rent collection processes by assisting with follow-up communication related to delinquencies.
  • Maintain professionalism and compliance in all payment-related conversations.
Maintenance Coordination
  • Enter, track, and follow up on maintenance requests through the property management system.
  • Partner with the maintenance team to ensure timely communication and issue resolution.
Conflict Resolution
  • Handle difficult resident situations with diplomacy, patience, and professionalism.
  • De-escalate issues effectively involve management or law enforcement only when necessary to ensure safety.
Community Outreach
  • Engage with local community resources, service providers, and partner organizations when appropriate to support resident needs.
Documentation & Compliance:
  • Maintain accurate and organized lease files, notices, communication logs, and resident records.
  • Support move-in and move-out processes, including walkthroughs and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Housing, state/local landlord-tenant laws, and internal policies.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of leasing, sales, or customer service experience; multifamily housing experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse prospects and residents.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain professional, composed, and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and basic landlord-tenant laws, or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Proficiency with property management software and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with onsite teams across multiple communities.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to learn and navigate property management and related systems.
  • Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation required to travel between assigned communities.
  • Ability to provide coverage across multiple assigned communities and adapt to changing business and staffing needs.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently walk throughout assigned apartment communities, including leasing offices, apartment units, amenities, parking areas, and grounds.
  • Climb stairs and navigate multi-story buildings as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Regularly sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds (e.g., files, packages, signage, and supplies).
  • Operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and scanners.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors, with occasional exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Perform property tours, unit and common-area inspections, resident and prospect outreach, and delivery or posting of notices throughout assigned communities.
Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:30 PM
  • Some evenings, weekends, and/or holidays may be required based on business needs.
