APAC-Quarry Laborer - NWA (Construction)

Pay Rate: $20 an hour, depending on experience

Position Overview

Assist the foreperson with maintaining a safe and compliant work environment at the worksite.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain clean work platforms, free of material
• Operate skid steer to maintain quarry access points
• Perform cleanup tasks with hand-held tools, working safely around moving equipment and using personal protective equipment
• Conduct pre-operational checks and service all assigned mobile equipment
• Operate light mobile equipment as trained
• Run crushing plant as directed
• Assist with plant repairs as needed
• Perform water cleanup safely, avoiding unsafe water conditions on motors and electrical equipment
• Keep the foreman informed of any issues affecting work
• Be aware of environmentally sensitive areas and address environmental problems
• This position is considered safety sensitive.

Qualifications

Successful performance requires the ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED

Work Requirements

• Complete MSHA training within 90 days of employment
• Complete Miner training prior to working in the facility
• Possess a valid driver's license

Knowledge/Skills

• Learn to grease motors and gearboxes
• Learn to repair conveyor belts
• Learn safe shoveling and lifting techniques
• Perform hazard assessments before starting work

Physical Requirements

• Work any 8 to 12-hour rotating shift, including weekends
• Walk or stand more than one-third of the time; sit no more than one-third
• Reach, handle, and feel with hands and arms
• Climb, balance, kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl
• Wear hearing protection in high noise areas

Work Environment

• Work in elevated or confined spaces
• Climb ramps, stairs, and occasional vertical ladders
• Work outdoors in various environmental conditions, including sun exposure
• Wear respirators in environments with fumes, dust, or gases
• This is a safety-sensitive environment.
