About The Role
As a AP1000 Training Manager you will lead a team of AP1000 Technical and Operations Instructors, supporting a wide range of training programs and projects. You will play a critical role in developing workforce capabilities, delivering training, mentoring instructors, and ensuring alignment with business needs. This role also includes hands‑on training delivery and requires periodic travel.
You will report to the Senior Director, Nuclear Operations, Training, and Commissioning, be located at Cranberry Township, PA and be traveling regularly. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, blending remote flexibility with regular on‑site collaboration at our office.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Set clear goals, monitor performance, and provide coaching to ensure personal and team success
- Lead, mentor, and develop instructors, promoting technical excellence and continuous growth
- Build and sustain Subject Matter Expertise (SME) within the team and promote cross‑training to enhance workforce flexibility
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Maintain high levels of employee engagement in a dynamic work environment
Training & Operational Excellence
- Deliver operations and technical training and support instructor qualification programs
- Ensure alignment with the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) and certification processes
- Support competency development and workforce readiness
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, flexibility, and cost effectiveness
Resource Planning & Project Support
- Optimize resource allocation based on demand and project priorities
- Collaborate with Business Units to resolve resource conflicts and minimize impact on cost, schedule, and delivery
- Support bid and proposal activities, including resource planning and estimating
- Ensure effective workload management and redeployment of resources upon project completion
- Contribute to creating a flexible workforce capable of adapting to changing business needs
Safety, Compliance & Culture
- Champion nuclear safety and ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and corporate requirements
- Promote and enforce Westinghouse's Code of Ethics and Conduct
- Foster a culture of inclusiveness, teamwork, and high performance
Innovation & Strategic Contribution
- Identify and deploy innovative solutions to strengthen Westinghouse's technological leadership
- Support corporate transformation initiatives and cost optimization efforts
- Drive adoption of tools, methods, and processes that enhance organizational capability and performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience as possible in PWR Operations and/or Technical Training
- SRO PWR would be beneficial
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a training environment
- Strong knowledge of:
- Systematic Approach to Training (SAT)
- Training processes and certification requirements
The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $130,400 to $163,000 per year.
