Role Mission:
IDEA Social Studies Teachers are responsible for ensuring that every IDEA student masters the academic and social skills necessary to succeed in college, while embodying IDEA’s values daily. They set ambitious goals for student achievement, track student data to inform lesson plans, seek feedback, and develop their teaching practices. Our goal is to provide students with rigorous high school material and opportunities for college credit through dual-enrollment, AP, or IB courses.
What We Offer
Compensation:
- Starting salary for 0 years of experience: $56,500. Eligible for stipends based on certifications, credentials, and leadership roles, ranging from $500-$4,000. Opportunities through our Teacher Career Pathway can earn up to an additional $10,000. More info on our compensation and benefits page.
- Additional hourly pay for after school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.

- Paid Family Leave: Up to 8 weeks for birth or adoption, based on tenure and caregiver status.
- Tuition Reimbursement: Up to 50% of tuition, max $5,250/year, subject to discretion.

What You Bring — Competencies
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Social Studies content, evidenced by certification, field of study, or experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience in a K-12 classroom preferred.
- State certification preferred but not required.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Relevant coursework or experience in Social Studies.
- Knowledge of core academic subjects and ability to pass content assessments.
- Understanding of curricula and instructional practices.
- Ability to instruct and manage student behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability to various school situations.
What You’ll Do — Accountabilities
Responsibilities:
- Implement state standards and curricula to meet academic goals.
- Master and deliver curriculum content and grade-level objectives.
- Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
- Use assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction.
- Communicate student progress weekly with students and families.
- Use technology effectively for communication and instruction.
- Maintain a behavior management system aligned with campus initiatives.
- Contribute to a positive school culture fostering learning and character development.
- Build trusting relationships with students and families.
- Host tutoring sessions as needed.
- Participate in meetings, duties, and school functions.
- Engage in ongoing professional development.
- Spend at least 40 hours weekly at school.
- Additional duties may include after-school or Saturday tutoring based on needs.
