Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is seeking an action-oriented Analyst III to lead accounts payable operations, overseeing invoice processing and payments, and resolving complex issues.

In this role you will ensure tax compliance, manage 1099 reporting for vendors, and drive process improvements using Oracle AP and Excel within a collaborative environment.

This senior position requires 5–10 years of AP experience and a BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or Business.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of progressive business, financial, or high-volume accounts payable experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Oracle Accounts Payable experience; proficiency in Excel and Access; knowledge of Massachusetts tax rules and IRS 1099 compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily AP workflows from invoice receipt to payment execution.
  • Ensure invoices comply with Massachusetts sales/use tax regulations.
  • Manage year-end 1099 tax reporting and compliance for vendor network.
  • Perform month-end close analysis and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Identify system efficiencies and update policies to optimize workflows.
  • Serve as primary contact for troubleshooting system errors and vendor queries.

In this senior role, you will oversee corporate administrative payments and core operational processing. You will be a key resource for troubleshooting complex issues, identifying operational bottlenecks, and implementing innovative, automated solutions. Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Operations: Oversee daily department workflows from invoice receipt to final payment execution.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure all invoices comply with Massachusetts sales and use tax regulations.
  • Annual Reporting: Manage year-end 1099 tax reporting and compliance requirements for our vendor network.
  • Financial Reporting: Perform critical month-end close reporting, financial analysis, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify system efficiencies and update standard operating policies to optimize workflows.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting system errors and resolving vendor escalated queries.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 5 to 10 years of progressive business, financial, or high-volume accounts payable experience.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated hands‑on experience using Oracle Accounts Payable systems. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically with Excel and Access.
  • Domain Expertise: Familiarity with Massachusetts sales/use tax rules and IRS 1099 compliance regulations.
  • Core Competencies: Excellent communication skills, a high level of professional integrity, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Minimum Education Requirements: High school degree or equivalent required unless otherwise noted above.

Salary Range: $75,330.00 - $92,070.00 The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability. This job is also eligible for variable pay.
