The Anuak - English Interpreter is an independent contractor, work-from-home position. There is no immediate work available as we are onboarding new customers who require this language. The interpreter will service video and phone interpretation appointments on an as-needed basis and may conduct language assessments of other Anuak speakers.

Ideally, candidates have contracts with other agencies already.

Job Responsibilities:

• Video Interpretation: interpreting Anuak <-> English via our online system (training provided)
• Phone Interpretation: interpreting Anuak <-> English via personal phone (training provided)
• Adhere to Interpreter Code of Ethics (https://www.ncihc.org/assets/z2021Images/NCIHC%20National%20Code%20of%20Ethics.pdf)

Candidate Qualifications:

• Fluency in Anuak; other languages are a plus
• High spoken English proficiency
• Experience with simultaneous interpretation is a plus
• Medium to high computer skills
• Punctuality and reliability
• Self-motivated and organized
• Quiet home environment
• For phone interpretation: access to a home phone
• For video interpretation: access to a device with webcam, mic, and speaker; minimum internet speed of 2 Mbps upload and 20 Mbps download

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay:

• Scheduled OPI/VRI: $0.45/min (30 min min, plus 15 min increments)
• On-Demand OPI/VRI: $0.55/min (15 min min)
• Simultaneous RSI: $0.84/min (60 min min, plus 15 min increments)
