Job summary

Grayson County Public Schools seeks an Anticipated Paraprofessional (Aide) at Independence Elementary School to support students with academic, physical or behavioral tasks under the teacher's direction.

The ideal candidate holds an associate degree or 48 college hours (or paraprofessional assessment) and may pursue CPR/First Aid certification; salary ranges from $16.35 to $22.44 per hour with degree supplements. This is a full-time support role in Independence, VA.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, 48 college hours or paraprofessional assessment score.
• Ability to assist students with academic, physical or behavioral tasks.
• Willingness to learn instructional techniques for students with disabilities
• CPR and first aid certification or willingness to obtain
• Knowledge of IDEA, FERPA, HIPAA regulations

Anticipated Paraprofessional (Aide) Position -- Position is at Independence Elementary School

Qualifications:

• 1.Possess Associate's degree, 48 hours of college coursework or successful Paraprofessional assessment score
• 2.Demonstrate ability to assist students with academic, physical or behavioral tasks as directed by the teacher
• 3.Possess willingness to learn specialized instructional/management techniques for students with disabilities
• 4.Possess or ability to obtain CPR and first aid certification and willingness to maintain necessarytraining/certifications as directed by school division
• 5.Demonstrate knowledge of IDEA, FERPA, HIPPA and other federal and state regulationsregarding student welfare
• 6.Demonstrate professional and personal characteristics necessary for effective and positiveinteractions with students, colleagues, parents and community

Prefer:

• 1.Experience working with children
• 2.Training related to working with special needs students

Salary starting scale $16.35/hour to $22.44/hour. Monthly degree supplements available $160 for Associate's Degree, $282 for Bachelor's Degree. Salary to be determined by education and experience.
