St. Paul School in Cana, Virginia is seeking an anticipateed Special Education Aide for the 2026-2027 school year, a 182-day, 7 hour per day contract. The position is non-exempt under FLSA.

Responsibilities include assisting teachers and preparing instructional materials to support students’ academic and social growth. The role requires basic reading/writing skills, good communication, ability to learn instructional equipment, and a valid VA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• An associate degree from an accredited college, sixty semester hours, or a passing Parapro assessment test.
• Be 18 years of age.
• Demonstrate good basic reading, writing and computation skills.
• Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn to operate and maintain a wide variety of instructional equipment.
• Have demonstrated the personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, school personnel and community.
• Current VA driver's license.

For the remainder of the 2026-2027 School Year

This is as a 182-day, 7 hr per day contract.

This is a non-exempt position as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act.

This is light work that may requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.

Primary Function:

To assist teachers in providing for the individual needs of the student in order for each student to achieve his/her maximum academic and social potential.

Qualifications:

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the school board policy and administrative regulations for the evaluation of classified personnel.
