Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated library media specialist who understands the needs of secondary students (developmental and academic) and is committed to ensuring all students learn.

The ideal candidate will recognize that:

  • Today's school libraries serve as the hub of the school; therefore, developing and maintaining relationships with colleagues and the community are essential.
  • This position will be a vital part of the school community, developing a strong library program for all students and staff.
  • Librarians serve as tech support and are seen as innovators in implementing technology in schools.
  • Maintaining the library for effective distribution, circulation of materials, coordination of services, and instruction is crucial.
  • Supporting student achievement through library resources and demonstrating a tireless commitment to this goal is essential.
  • Knowledge of differentiating instruction for various learning needs (both adult and child learners).
  • In-depth knowledge of learning standards, especially in complex texts and close reading.
  • Teaching skills such as Microsoft Office, database and internet research, source evaluation, library catalog search, keyboarding, and fostering reading and literature appreciation.
  • Facilitating student and staff access to research resources.
  • Encouraging exploration of print and online resources.
  • Collaborating on curriculum aligned with Next Generation standards.
  • Applying research in enrichment education using technology and innovation standards.
