Requirements for the Position
  1. A high school diploma
  2. Ability to work harmoniously with students and teachers
  3. Experience in organizational skills
  4. Knowledge of and/or experience with computers, preferred but not required
  5. The individual’s credentials are in compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations governing individuals functioning in the capacity of this position.
Major Responsibilities
  1. Work with students assigned to receive instructional support either in the resource room or regular classroom.
  2. Perform clerical duties as assigned.
  3. Respond to teacher’s needs for in-class and/or small group assistance.
  4. Assist teacher in maintenance of program resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Conduct reading, language, math and other groups while allowing for individual differences
  2. Review Individualized Educational Programs with teacher and perform necessary duties to fulfill the goals and objectives
  3. Participate in "Inclusion" of the special needs children in the regular classroom
  4. Utilize instructional materials, learning activities, and techniques as directed by the teacher.
  5. Work to develop rapport with the student assigned and encourage the development of positive self-esteem
  6. Use teaching techniques appropriate to meet the needs of the students as directed by the teacher.
  7. Maintain classroom routine and order when the teacher leaves the classroom and discuss student discipline concerns directly with the attending teacher.
  8. Perform non-teaching/clerical duties as requested by the teacher and agreed to by the building principal
  9. Perform non-teaching/clerical duties as requested by the administration.
  10. Participate in building level committees, building level programs, and district level workshops/inservice programs as assigned by the administration.
  11. Perform additional responsibilities as may be determined by the building principal.
