Position Overview

Under the supervision of the School Principal, the Science Teacher will develop students' skills in one or more science disciplines, including general science, earth science, biology, physiology, chemistry, and physics. The role involves fostering scientific methods, problem-solving abilities, and practical application of science.

Responsibilities
  1. Teach knowledge and skills in science based on district curriculum.
  2. Encourage critical and creative thinking.
  3. Create a safe, engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.
  4. Develop and implement lesson plans and instructional materials.
  5. Design activities demonstrating science applications, including research projects and experiments.
  6. Instruct students on proper use of scientific equipment and safety procedures.
  7. Assess student progress and adapt instruction to meet individual needs, including students with special needs.
  8. Prepare students for standardized tests and stay updated on current educational developments.
  9. Maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance.
  10. Engage parents and guardians in students' educational progress.
  11. Uphold student conduct standards and foster a positive learning environment.
  12. Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school committees.
  13. Manage instructional supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
  • State Certification as a Science Teacher.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an education discipline; Master’s preferred.
  • Successful teaching experience at the appropriate grade level is preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, science subjects, data systems, and applicable laws.
