Job summary

Farmington School District seeks a Math Intervention Specialist to develop a student-centered intervention system aimed at closing the achievement gap in mathematics while monitoring and improving student achievement to meet grade level proficiency.

The role reports to Building Principal and Director of Curriculum, and requires valid NH Teaching Certificate with experience in high school math instruction. Master's degree preferred to promote deep mathematical understanding.

Qualifications

• Valid NH Teaching Certificate is required.
• Experience teaching high school math is required or strongly preferred.
• Master's degree in mathematics or related coursework is preferred to support mathematical practice standards.
• Proven success teaching at the high school level.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct instruction to students identified for math services in individual and/or small group settings.
• Uses identified needs to create a learning process toward student achievement of the district's content standards.
• Establishes clear learning objectives using formal and informal assessment data.
• Continuously monitors progress of students receiving intervention services to adjust practice and grouping.
• Communicates and collaborates with classroom teachers regarding alignment between classroom instruction and interventions supporting skill transfer within the Tier 1 environment.
• Develops instructional resources with classroom teachers to support skill development in various modalities.
• Provides coaching and support to classroom teachers to optimize instructional time and student learning at all tiers.
• Progress monitors all students via various assessment models to track growth and fidelity of interventions.

Professional Responsibilities

• Provides direct instruction to students identified for math services in individual and/or small group settings.
• Uses identified needs to create a learning process toward student achievement of the district's content standards.
• Establishes clear learning objectives using formal and informal assessment data.
• Continuously monitors progress of students receiving intervention services in order to adjust practice and student groupings.
• Communicates and collaborates with classroom teachers regarding alignment between classroom instruction and interventions supporting skill transfer and development within the Tier 1 environment.
• Develops instructional resources in conjunction with classroom teachers that support a student's skill development in a variety of modalities.
• Provides coaching and support to classroom teachers that optimizes instructional time and student learning at all tiers of instruction.
• Provides coaching and support to classroom teachers to progress monitor all students via various assessment models to track and analyze growth, and to ensure fidelity and success of the interventions being used.

Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Curriculum

Qualifications

1. Valid NH Teaching Certificate

• Experience in high school math instruction.
• Master's Degree preferred or additional coursework in Mathematics to promote a strong understanding of mathematical practice standards.
• Successful experience teaching at the high school level.
