Job summary

Bellefonte Area School District is seeking a Cafeteria Floater for the Bellefonte Area High School campus. The role supports the food service department with daily assignments across locations, assists in meal service, and maintains cleanliness and stock levels.

Minimum education is a high school diploma or GED, with prior food service experience; six months cashier experience is preferred. This is a part-time, on-site position with paid holidays and benefits as described in the attached pay

Location: Bellefonte Area High School

Work Day: 5 hours/day (subject to change)

Work Year: 180 days/year; 9-month position; 3 paid holidays

Position Overview

To assist in cafeteria services.

Key Responsibilities

The Cafeteria Floater will:

• Assist in floating capacity with daily assignments coordinated through the food services department according to location needs.
• Follow the cafeteria clean-up schedule after meal service.
• Maintain assigned work station cleanliness and restock.
• Follow established procedures for food preparation, service, and cleaning-sanitization.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services.

Education Requirements

Minimum: High School Diploma/GED

Experience Requirements

Minimum: Prior experience in food service operations

Preferred:

• Six months experience as a cashier preferred

Required:

• None

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percentages.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to effectively communicate to school administration, co-workers and students.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Good moral character.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• Able to hear with 40 decibel loss maximum.
• Able to see with acuity of 20 inches or less and far acuity of at least 20 feet normal depth perception, field of vision and accommodation.
• Able to reach above and below the waist, walk and use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects.

• Ability to Lift/Carry/Push supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.

• The noise level in this environment is generally moderate to loud.
