Job summary

Dallas Independent School District is seeking a Bilingual Pre-K Teacher Assistant to support campus classrooms. You will assist in non-instructional tasks, tutor students, supervise meals, and help maintain orderly learning environments to help each child progress.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma or equivalent, a paraprofessional certificate, and at least one year of experience with children.

Qualifications

• Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent; plus one of the following: Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, pass an academic assessment.
• Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification.
• One year of experience working with children.
• Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics.
• Ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
• Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting intensified learning experiences for students and relieve certified teacher of various non-instructional tasks.

• Help students with daily work and in finding activities appropriate for their homework.

• Talk to parents to provide updates on the student's progress, homework, and social behavior.
• Distribute informative letters to parents regarding their child's progress.
• Assist in filing and organizing materials for record retention and distribution.
• Assist in maintaining student records, attendance, and files.
• Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment /alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.
