Job summary

Anthropologie in Philadelphia seeks a Merchandise Planner who blends curiosity with data-driven planning. You will partner with Buying to build plans that maximize sales, margin, and inventory productivity, shaping assortments with a customer-led approach and strategic execution.

You will own the OTB, forecast key metrics, develop attribute-level plans, and provide insight-rich reporting to guide decisions across channels and stores.

Responsibilities

  • Own OTB management aligning with sales, inventory, and margin goals
  • Forecast sales, markdowns, receipts, IMU, and gross margin using current trends
  • Build attribute-level plans to support assortment strategy
  • Recap performance vs. plan at class and attribute levels and identify opportunities
  • Analyze style count productivity to optimize assortment efficiency
  • Develop and manage style count plans by channel and store cluster
  • Partner with Buying and Production to deliver tools, reporting, insights
  • Conduct seasonal hindsight analysis to inform future buys
  • Support assortment development via attribute, sizing, and price point analysis
  • Prepare and present investment review financial recaps
  • Lead markdown and promotional forecasting, execution, and performance management

Job description

Role Summary

Anthropologie is looking for a Merchandise Planner who brings both curiosity and creativity to the art of planning. In this role, you’ll partner closely with Buying to build thoughtful, data-driven plans that maximize sales, margin, and inventory productivity. You’ll use insights, trends, and a strong sense of the Anthropologie customer to help shape assortments and drive the business forward in a way that feels both strategic and inspiring.

Role Responsibilities
  • Own OTB management, ensuring alignment with sales, inventory, and margin goals
  • Drive sales, markdown, receipt, IMU, and gross margin forecasts based on current trends using O9 Planning
  • Build and maintain attribute-level plans that support assortment strategy
  • Recap weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance vs. plan at class and attribute levels, identifying opportunities and recommending actions
  • Analyze style count productivity to optimize assortment efficiency and performance
  • Develop and manage style count plans by channel and store cluster
  • Partner closely with Buying and Production to deliver the tools, reporting, and insights needed to support decision-making
  • Conduct seasonal hindsight analysis to inform and strengthen future buy strategies
  • Support assortment development through attribute, sizing, and price point analysis

Role Qualifications
  • 5 or more years of experience in merchandise planning, allocation, or a related retail analytics role; buying or store experience a plus
  • Strong command of retail math with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented mindset
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to share insights and influence cross-functional partners
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a cross-functional, partnership-driven culture
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with planning systems; comfort working with large data sets
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
